TIMEPIECE INFORMATION

What is an automatic mechanical movement?

Often referred to as self-winding, automatic movements harness energy through the natural motion of the wearer's wrist.

This movement uses a rotor, or metal weight, to power the timepiece. It is the half-moon shaped piece that can be seen through the transparent case back. The rotor will oscillate freely within the watch.

As the wearer moves their wrist, the rotor spins. This spinning motion is transferred into energy that winds the mainspring in the watch automatically.

What should I avoid to keep my watch in good working order?

Most importantly, avoid harsh shocks. This can be caused by wearing it while playing sports or other physical activities. This can cause premature wear on the watch components.

It is best to limit close exposure to magnetic fields such as a TVs, computers, appliances, speakers, tablets, mobile phones, or magnets on carrying bags. This can cause the watch to become magnetized which will disrupt accuracy.

What does 28,800 VPH mean?

28,800 VPH (vibrations per hour) refers to the rate at which the mechanical watch is beating/ticking per hour.

CARE AND MAINTENANCE

How do I take good care of my watch?

Most importantly, keep your watch clean and dry. Exposing it to chemicals such as soap, fragrances, detergents, or other cleaners can damage the case and strap. Allow creams/lotions or fragrances to dry on your skin before wearing.

Although very durable, exposing your watch to harsh physical activities like running or playing sports can eventually cause damage.

Frequent, close exposure to magnetic devices like TVs, computers, appliances, tablets, mobile phones, speakers, etc. can cause the watch to become magnetized thus causing inaccuracy of time keeping.

Like any precision piece of fine machinery, your mechanical timepiece should be serviced. This means sending or taking it to an Authorized Swiss repair service every 3-5 years for a good cleaning and inspection. This will ensure its accuracy and keep the watch in good working order for generations.

What can I do if my watch is not keeping good time?

Your watch is regulated at the manufacturer prior to shipping. This is the process of adjusting your watch for accuracy. However, there are a number of variables that can cause your watch to lose accuracy. Here are the most likely reasons for inaccuracy.

First, the watch could be magnetized, which comes from too much exposure to appliances, TVs, speakers, cell phones or magnets on a bag. You can take it to any watch repair service to de-magnetize it or DIY.

The other possibility for not being accurate is that it simply needs to be regulated again. We strongly recommend this procedure to be done by an Authorized Swiss repair service.

Can I wear my watch while playing sports or doing physical activities?

Although extremely durable, our watches are not designed to be worn during very intensive sporting activities. Sports such as golf and tennis are fine, however more physical sporting activity should be avoided.

How do I take care of my leather strap?

Alligator leather is NOT waterproof. Most importantly, keep it clean and dry. DO NOT wear it for swimming, or during any activities that cause you to sweat. This will ruin the alligator leather. If needed, you can use a slightly damp cotton cloth to clean it, then dry immediately.

What should I use to clean my watch?

We include a cleaning cloth with your watch purchase that should be used to keep you watch clean and polished. Otherwise, we suggest using a clean, cotton cloth or microfiber towel. Do not use cleaning products on your watch. If necessary, use a slightly damp cotton cloth to clean it then dry immediately.
